Gary L. Hines, CBI
Gary Hines, has over 35 years’ experience in the brokerage of small to medium size businesses. He has handled a wide variety of transactions across a broad range of industries and business types. He also testifies as an expert witness on business brokerage matters in Superior Courts and within American Arbitration Association.
Mr. Hines has been a licensed California Real Estate Broker for 32 years, is longtime member of the International Business Brokers Association, and holds the designation of Certified Business Intermediary (CBI). He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Business Brokers (CABB).
Since 1995, Mr. Hines has been the President/Broker of Hines & Associates,
Inc., d/b/a VR Business Brokers, a national business brokerage franchise. Based in Newport Beach, California, the firm has had up to 15 agents representing clients in hundreds of transactions in the purchase and sale from small restaurants to mergers and acquisitions of distribution firms, business and professional service firms by public companies.
Mr. Hines also held the Southern California Master Franchise for VR Business
Brokers from1993- 2012, under which he was actively involved in procuring and assisting in the start-up of business brokerage franchisees for the company’s Southern California Region. Additionally, from 1996 to 1997, Mr. Hines served with VR Business Brokers- TD, Inc, providing training and support to business broker franchisees and their agents.
Previously, Mr. Hines was an agent with Burke Commercial Real Estate focusing on industrial property and as an independent business broker in Southern California. From 1982 to 1987, he was the broker and franchisee of VR Business Brokers/GLH & Associates in Huntington Beach, CA, a business brokerage firm with 6-8 agents selling primarily food/beverage businesses.
Mr. Hines began his career in business brokerage as an associate in 1979 with United Business Investments, Costa Mesa, California. Responsibilities included the listing and sale of small businesses. From 1975 to 1979 he was the owner/operator of three retail drive thru-dairy products and convenience stores located in Hacienda Heights, Bellflower and Costa Mesa.
Bill’s diverse business background gives him a unique insight into business. Bill’s experience includes a successful track record as a CEO in the High Tech industry, M&A and small-mid business broker-sales, as well as leading and developing many marketing campaigns.
Bill’s corporate career spanned 20 years in the high tech industry starting as an engineer and leading to positions in engineering management, marketing, and President/CEO positions of both publicly traded companies and privately held firms.
As a Business Broker Bill has over 15 years of experience and has handled transactions ranging from mid-size corporate acquisitions to small and mid-size sales of privately held businesses.
Bill is a Master Graduate of Rapport Leadership International’s Leadership Breakthrough program, a Graduate (Warrior) of Eagles Quest and has volunteered with the organization frequently.
